At the age of 48 Niribeth Karner has seen a lot of things in her life and has by now made up her own mind on how the galaxy works. Her cool and rational - almost stoic personality pairing with a great talent for tactics have driven her through her military carreer and finally granted her the rank of Admiral, commandeering a small UPMF battlegroup under the supreme command of Ray Firkis
Like most people she regaraded the UPA government in the post-Aelhoc era with contempt and disappointment. When her superior approached her with his decision to defect to the Empire of the Seven Suns she was quite taken with the idea of trading the incompetent and corrupt UPA government for a strong monarchic ruler who clearly displayed a greater understanding of the intergalactic system and the things that had to be done to survive in it.
