Born in Devaron's crime-heavy capital city, Jym Vorak was orphaned at age 6. Learning to fend for himself, Vorak lived as a pickpocket, until age 16 when he was offered a job as a cabin boy on the freighter Twilight Moon. A year later, the ship was attacked by the Vipers, then a relatively small band of pirates led by a Trandoshan named Salir Karniss. Knowing an opportunity when he saw one, Vorak joined up with the Vipers.
During his first years as a member of the Vipers, Jym Vorak would meet his best friend, D'Arman Karvic. The two bonded with each other as they flew countless raids. They went their separate ways when Karvic joined the Mandalorians, eventually becoming the Supreme Commander of the Mandalorian military right before Niko Malzic's successful coup. Vorak would climb the ranks and end up taking control of the Vipers.
As the leader of the Vipers, Vorak would turn his insignificant group of pirates into a massive criminal empire second only to the Kaos Coalition and Empire of Wolves, based in the Outer Rim, with influence across the entire galaxy.
